With the coming of a more physiological understanding of the brain and its almost unfathomable processes, isn't it clear that a lot of what we ascribe to the "mind", is merely a matter of the intricate biochemical workings of the brain? Take for instance the treatment of Schizophrenia which years ago was confined only to a very sketchy theory of how the human brain functions. Now there is a wealth more evidence and science based data that allows us to treat brain diseases with a large arsenal of pharmacological treatments, along with cognitive/behavioral therapy. Is enlightenment not merely a biological balancing event in which the brain is running at optimum levels in the eternal quest for happiness?

FROM BILL: That would be one way to look at it. There is an objective component to things, what Wilber called the upper right quadrant (really both right-hand quadrants, since the top right is the obkective-individual and the lower right is the objective-collective), and there is a subjective aspect, the upper left quadrant. The big error people make--and a big part of what Wilber has been trying to point out--is called "quadrant absolutism," where someone concludes that one of the quadrants (in this case the objective view of the individual) is where it's all originating. Wilber's view (and mine) is that all four quadrants are just different views of the same thing, and all four arise together. Mind is the interior, the subjective view, of the individual, and is just as valid as the objective. One doesn't create the other. Rather, they all happen simultaneously.

Have you seen this? How we are able to reach oneness.

"A neuro-scientist named Jill Taylor gave a short talk at TED that was
probably the most profound depiction of the "deep right brain experience" that I'd
ever heard. After her talk, the vibe of the entire conference changed - people
were more open, deeper, clearer. Truly remarkable. There is an essential message here for all humanity on acknowledging just how closely connected and related we all are. "

Gwen - I realize I am way out of the timeframe when these posts were originally entered, but I just wanted to comment on your wonderful post. Your way of experiencing is inspiring and without signs of ego-baggage. Thanks for communicating your wonderful thoughts.

"Ken Wilber has said, with tongue in cheek, that experiences of the transcendent are accidental, but that meditation makes one “more accident prone.”

Greetings guys,

I've also found that those fleeting moments of clarity happen when I least expect it, it can't be forced but meditation (I use holosync) allows you to become more aware and continue the process of becoming more and more conscious. The more conscious you become the more "accident prone" you will be.

Keep choosing,
Grant :)

Oh my gosh, I have written to you so many times about this but always deleted it, deciding it really wouldn't contribute anything and who knows…maybe this won’t either! But this time I just can’t hold it back. You have spoken so many times about elements I now learn are part of an identified understanding or an acknowledged way of thinking. Thanks to your post, now I know there must be more Magicians out there. I didn’t know there was such a thing! I'm dumbfounded to learn it is a fairly well-known? progression of being and seeing. I always kind of knew it must be but have never found much evidence of it out there.

I attributed my perspective to many experiences including the way I was raised because I never found it in another human being. The connection and links are everywhere in the natural world and that world is actually made of this understanding and that is the only place I knew to go. I have searched to know more, to share and to find someone to take point me down the road. Now, with what you have somehow been able to put into words I feel as though I have just discovered footprints on the moon. This is fabulous. In one way it doesn’t really change anything but in another, it feels good. Maybe now I can finally take the plastic off the sofa and relax. All your posts and presentations are meaningful but this one rang all my bells.

Most of my adult life I have searched for reasons or clues or connections to things that I have experienced, not at all because I doubted what they were, but because I don’t know why they would be so true and no one else felt that way. I just couldn’t figure out why I couldn’t find other people or huge bodies of thought or even scholarship. These days you can Google anything and find worlds of things you never even wanted to know!

The “transitions” come on their own and as you said, they change the perception of everything you’ve ever seen and of course everything you are/that is. It’s a beautiful thing and you nailed it in your description. It used to come as powerful dreams when I was little but eventually it became what I call “awake dreams”, maybe as I relaxed into them while growing up. I am full when they come but have never learned to bring them, so I just try to “be” in what I have already been shown. They come more often when I can hold that state, which I really can’t, for long. It’s more of a surprise than that. I must make it hard and I know it should be so effortless. I guess that’s why it sneaks up on me when I least expect it; it’s when my mind is not in the way. I’ve been a TM-er for 10years or so but you know, I never, the first time ever transcended with meditation. I was told there never has been a person who was unsuccessful at that. Hmm….I’ve been a Holosync user for about a year now I guess, and I find it very pleasant. I believe in it so I’m going to hang in there. I’m still in Awakening Level One but I’m wondering if maybe I just come and go through a different portal?

Thanks for all you do, Bill. That’s one of my motivations for writing but the other is because I have a smidgeon to add, if anyone is interested. When you speak of language as defining a world view I know you couldn’t be more dead-on. My way of seeing came more like what I now understand as “gnosis”; it found me and continues to reveal in amazingly delightful ways; additional layers of wonder. Each time it does I get spun off for a while in writing fits; madly connecting up all the new dots. Because all my teachers or clues have come from the natural world before you, (you’re my first two-legged!!!) I assumed this knowing was what I call “pre-verbal”. Now I’ll go back to my notes and make the correction; it was just “pre-Bill”.

When you address language and how it shapes and carries a person’s perception I am yelling responses to you. This has been an exciting exchange however I think it is probably one sided and you haven’t been able to hear me cheer you on. What a shame. ?

I am 200% certain the natural world carries the perspective you describe. The man centered, “thing centered” mind cannot see beyond itself. It is when you drop it and stand naked in the most real sense, that the-real-deal comes close and reveals itself to you. My most frequent messengers have been plants, rain, and a penetrating and all-encompassing light. They all know things you wouldn’t think they would even care about. Anyway, it’s there doing it's thing and I bring it up so that if people know that, they might merge easier, however it won’t help to go looking for it, as you know. It is not outside you. It finds you where you are but where I am most full, is “out there” so that’s my way of reuniting. I wonder if, because I relate more to that world than I do to the human world, if I am pre-disposed to the understanding you describe where life is not made up of “things” but instead it is more of a process or a connected state? The concept of “state” in the European mind (for lack of a better term) is usually a static thing. I am using it to describe a “state of being” that flows. Almost like an altered state or a transcended state but usually you can get up and walk around in this one. There is of course, the more intense state but that’s different. All of life moves and evolves and flows so how could there ever be a “static thing”, separate from all else? Life IS movement. In the American Indian languages we do not have “things”. We speak of what it is “doing”. We do not say HE SAID or SHE SAID. It is not important who said it, what is important is, THAT IT IS SAID. There is little ego or sense of an individual self in this way. And we speak in kinships. Mother is not a person. You cannot be a Mother without your relationship to the child or to the father or to your own mother. We say “my mother” even in addressing her. She cannot "be" without her connection. She is displaced and sort of dangling in that way. All things are connected. Corn is not “corn” and then arrogantly dismissed like that’s all there is. Corn is what it is doing. Roughly translating, it is in seed stage or sprout stage or tassel stage or milk stage. There are changing names for it because it is the “process” and reflects life, itself . It is whole when it is connected, contrary to the Western world of thought where you must isolate something and reduce it down to its most basic elements to really see what it is. That's odd to me.

We are acknowledging the Great Mystery in its many forms, which is of course, all there is. Jumping ahead; I came to Indian languages late in life. For me it was thrilling to learn, for the languages verified and validated what I had learned from a lifetime of plant and element voices. Now I was hearing it in human voices that obviously at least at one time, knew what I had also learned. Through the language reclamation projects many Indian people and others, are re-discovering the language and the ways of seeing which can also be called, “culture”. Sadly a great many of the people have lived in the modern world too long and they only grasp it with their minds. I don’t know the languages well but hope to, someday. For now I know enough to be sure the philosophy you speak of and the one the Magician knows, is carried by all things that find their way home to that unified, interactive, wholistic state of knowing and being. It is HOME.

You use language in a very good way to help people get out of themselves. As a good teacher you use the tools to find the student where they are; just as The Intelligence reaches through and finds us where we are. Maybe it is possible to learn this perspective from the language end, or at the very least, to use it to light the way in. For me it came the other way; from the source, and language lit the way out. Now I find words that confirm this knowing we share and I find people like you who can turn the words ever so slightly so they pass us through instead of walling us in, and being the whole point. How we handle our minds is huge and you have taught me so much.

As a teacher you lay yourself open for us to paw through, knowing your past experiences will seem familiar to some of us. There are other great teachers who have given themselves up and fed the hungry. They stop at nothing to show us the way and for me, many doctrines miss the real message because they were recorded by people who tried, but they just didn’t “get it”. Truly enlightened people make certain decisions and act in certain ways because that’s all they can do from what they see. So often the accounts and Holy Books teach a message that is skewed to my way of thinking. The message they have predigested for us, gives their perspective away. Their explanation and interpretation is so inconsistent with the consciousness of the original messenger. If there is a sin at all, I believe it is in letting people wander in circles, in their own minds. Bless you, Bill.

Hi Bill,
This is delightful for our souls - sorry it is finished - but I'm sure you will find a next group of ''subject'' to talk about - to share it with us.

Reading your blog, Holosinc-ing, reading lot of books, getting your lessons of Map of reality Expander, getting LPractice of Ken Wilber , listening to Genpo's Big Mind - Bill, this is an amazing life-puzzle opening to us where all pieces fall in place - and we can 'feel' it will become complete !
Thanks much for your devotion !

Best for you, Bill !

This is delightful for our souls – sorry it is finished – but I’m sure you will find a next group of ‘’subject” to talk about – to share it with us.

Reading your blog, Holosinc-ing, reading lot of books, getting your lessons of Map of reality Expander, getting LPractice of Ken Wilber , listening to Genpo’s Big Mind – Bill, this is an amazing life-puzzle opening to us where all pieces fall in place – and we can ‘feel’ it will become complete !
Thanks much for your devotion !

Best for you, Bill !
Emilia

Dear Bill

This was a very interesting blog. Actually, all your blogs are interesting to me. I will say the Magician is an interesting fellow. I believe what probably allowed him to become a Magician is when he was able to recognize the borderline. Once he became aware of it...it changed the game. I am sure they would make very good mentors and coaches. They would probably make great artists as well. As far as them feeling "better" than others. Illusion only. Sometimes it may appear that way I would think because others base on being "better" as what convictions are adopted in the midst of a crowd. Anyway, more thoughts on the way. I will read it again, and absorb a little more. Thank you as always for the knowledge. It is good stuff to think about.

Hi Bill and everyone else here.. :o)

When are you putting up the Ironist Blog? This is so cool, I totally adore your blogs and love to read the varied responses too. Some things on these later stages I can identify with, however I think i'm still at the 'achiever' level, but hey I'm totally cool with that.. I'm not in any rush. The only thing I would like to see now-ish (Not that I would want a 'rush' job ;-) ) is the new blog. *Bouncing Happily cos I can* (Btw-bouncing happily has increased a hundredfold since I started holosync in July last year... Happier, content-er, less tired me yay!!! :o) )

Love from Jen in Oz

P.S. Bill, when are you planning your next Antipodean trip??
